Our new pastor is Rev. Chong Ho Yang, who has been serving as a full time Intercessory Missionary at the International House of Prayer, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born in Seoul, Korea in February 1964, and came to the United States in January of 1987. While in Korea, he majored in Mechanical Engineering and received his B.S. degree at the Kun Kuk University in 1986.
Once he arrived in the United States, he majored in Religion and Philosphy and received his B.A. degree at Methodist University in 1992. He earned his Master of Divinity degree at Duke Divinity School in 1996, was ordained Deacon in 1996 and Elder in 1999 at the North Carolina Annual Conference.
Rev. Chang has served a two-point charge in Gibson, North Carolina from 1996-1999. In 1999, he transferred to the Virginia Conference and was appointed to the the Cooperative Parish of Park View UMC and Peninsula Korean UMC from 1999 to 2001.
In 2001, he was appointed to Peninsula Korean UMC, which was renamed to Open Door Korean UMC, and served 11 years until he moved to Kansas City in July 2010.
In Kansas City, he bacame a full-time self-supporting Intercessionary Missionary, and served there until March 2015 as a teacher and speaker to various conferences. He has also led both short and long-term schools of training for young adults. Rev. Yang has also served for three years as a Zone Pastor to the Forerunner Christians Fellowship, which is a congregation under the International House of Prayer.
Rev. Yang is married to Mrs. Soyoung Yang (Choe) for 21 years and they have three children, Sahrang, Chanmi, and Yedam.
